Things to  Read Thoroughly b4 Welcoming your Furbaby

Required Documents

These are documents you need to have in hard copy when coming to the airport.

1. Adoption Letter; will be sent to you a few days before the flight.

2. Health Cert.; will be sent to you a couple of days before the flight.

3. Customs Paper; will be sent to you once the dog flies out of the airport in South Korea.

4. Adoption Agreement; this should shows the adoption fee as $200.

5. Proof of Payment; will be sent to you a couple of days before the flight. 

The day of the adoption

These are documents you need to have in hard copy when coming to the airport.

  • 1. Have all documents from above; Adoption Letter, Health Cert., and Customs Paper, printed and ready to go.

  • Have $60 CAD ready in tens preferrably.

​

  • 30 minutes before the expected landing, go CBSA office at YVR.

  • Tell the officer there that

    • "My dog is coming from South Korea"

  • Hand in 5 documents you prepared.

CBSA officer WILL try to trick you!

​

If the officer asks you how much you paid to adopt the pup, please say, "$200".

If asked, say that $200   INCLUDES    the cargo fare.

​

If you say "$450 or $500 USD, your tax can be as high as  $130.

He or she might try to categorize your adoption as a commercial.  Make sure you say it is personal.

There are two possibilities here.

Possibility 1

If the officer says "Pay for the import tax & inspection  fee here",

Possibility 2

If the officer says "pay the import tax  & Go to the airport and wait there",

  • Pay the import tax; $25~$30 CAD.

  • Pay the inspection fee; $35~$37 CAD. 

  • Go to the airport.

  • Wait at 'USA/International Arrivals'.

  • Meet our flight volunteer and give $20 CAD to her/him.

    • FV should have paid for the porter tip already.​​

  • ​Pay the import tax; $25~$30 CAD.

  • Go to 'USA/International Arrivals' and wait.

  • Meet our flight volunteer and give $60 CAD to her/him.

    • FV should have paid for the inspection and the porter tip already.​
