HOW DOES THE ADOPTION PROCESS WORK?

All process is ONLINE.

There are 3 steps

  1. Application

  2. Written interview & Home-check pictures(at least 6 pictures showing inside and outside of your place, including fenced-in backyard if applicable.)

  3. Arrange a phone interview

We do NOT accept any documents via E-mails.

  • We have so many emails flushing in every day.

  • There is only one person who can manually upload your documents into the database.

  • There is a good chance your application is left out from the evaluation.

It is your responsibility to finish all 3 steps.

  • If all 3 steps not finished, your application will not be accessible to board members.

  • Your application will be left out from the evaluation and you will lose your chance to adopt the dog of your interest.

CAN I MEET THE DOG?

We are more than happy to schedule a visit but a lot of times locality acts as a major hindrance when it comes to meeting the dog in person.

For this reason, we post as many videos and pictures as possible to show how the dog behaves in certain situations; around kids and other animals(cats or other dogs).

For the dogs who are already in Canada foster homes, Germany foster homes, or Atlanta, please contact us to arrange a meet-up.

But note, a lot of our dogs get adopted without going through foster homes.

So, we strongly recommend you fill out the application asap when you have an interest in one of our dogs.

HOW DOES ADOPTION PROCESS WORK?

Once you decide to adopt one of our dogs, you may start the adoption process by submitting the adoption application online.

After the application is submitted, an email with a written interview forms.

House visit follows if one of our volunteers is near where you live but if not, we encourage applicants to share some pictures of their place(especially fence).

Once you pass the written interview and the home-check, An interview over the phone will take place with an arrangement.

Board members and the rescuer/caregiver will gather to discuss whether the adoption should be granted or not.

Once the adoption is granted, the adoption fee shall be made to our rescue group pay-pal

<Note, If the adoption fee is not made in 24~48 hours; differ depending on how much time we have before the flight, the adoption is nullified automatically>

If we do not have a volunteer courier available at the moment, we will search out for a volunteer courier who flies to the international airport near you.

The pupper is handed over to the adopting family at the airport along with the medical documents, custom paper, and microchip information.

Adopting family shares post-adoption stories on Facebook Group "Welcome Dog Korea Story".

CAN I ADOPT A PUPPY?

Puppies that came to us can be between a few weeks old to a few months old.

They need booster shots and spay/neuter surgery before the adoption and more importantly, they need to be at least 6 months old to enter US soil or 8 months old to enter Canada.

Please note, for puppies younger than 6 months old, the adoption fee may vary and there may be some waiting period before the flight day.

==========================================================================================

IS THE DOG MICROCHIPPED?

We recently changed our policy to make sure all dogs flying out through us are microchipped.
This is to help in case the dog is lost at the beginning of the adjustment period.

Therefore, the adoption fees are all adjusted to cover the microchip expense since Oct 30th, 2018.

==========================================================================================

CAN I FOSTER THE DOG?

A lot of people that show interest in our dogs ask whether they could start fostering to see if the dog is the right fit for their family.
It is encouraged by many shelters in North America.
However, the amount of ordeal the dog has to go through; flying 12-14 hours and drastic change in the environment, is immense and can cause negative effect on the dogs. Also, there is only so much we can do when something goes wrong or when the adoption does not happen.
The relocation of the dogs within the states can be costly.
We already have an experience where we had to bring a dog back to South Korea and it cost us 10 grants.

For these reasons, we are only accepting

'FOSTER TO ADOPT'

This is not different from adopting a dog as you have to pay for the full adoption fee before the flight.

But if you find the dog not the perfect match for your family, you can choose to foster the dog and help him/her find furever home.

This involves arranging a meet-up for possible adopters in your area on your weekends or any spare time you may feel available.

Once the dog finds his/her furever home and handed over to the new furparent(s), the adoption fee is returned in full to you.

FOSTER PARENT WITH RECOMMENDATION LETTERS

If you have an extensive sheet of foster experience with local shelters, you may email us recommendation letters or any documents to prove it.

Once we find you suitable for a foster parent, a foster parent agreement should be submitted.

FOSTER PARENTS FROM Adoptapet

We will soon start posting ADs to find foster parents on Adoptapet website.
If you reside in Toronto area or Vancouver area, please keep an eye out for our ADs.

FOSTER PARENTS IN SOUTH KOREA

We are always looking for foster parents in South Korea.

Sadly, a lot of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters or dog meat trade and free from being killed.

However, they are living in no-kill shelters without knowing how to be normal dogs and enjoy life because they are not socialized enough to be adopted overseas.
Fostering these dogs can save hundreds of dogs that are living as life-timers.

==========================================================================================

WHAT DOES 'PENDING' MEAN?

Some of our dogs listed on our adoptable dog's page have 'Pending' next to their names.
'Pending' here means they are between 'Adoption granted' and 'Adoption Complete'.

==========================================================================================

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN NOT MAKE IT TO THE AIRPORT IN TIME?

In such cases, the dog(s) will be handed over to an animal reception center at the airport until the adopting family arrives.
The expenses for holding the dog(s) for the time being will be on the adopting family and it usually ranges between $125 and $500 depending on the situation.

==========================================================================================

IS THE DOG HOUSEBROKEN?

We adopt out dogs that do not have any behavioral issues;

 - extreme fear of humans; adult and kids alike, objects, or other dogs

 - Isolation distress and/or separation anxiety

 - Aggression toward strangers/other dogs/kids

However! We do NOT guarantee the temperament, (expected) weight,  and physical traits of our dogs.

This is because they subject to environmental changes or somewhat unpredictable.

==========================================================================================

HOW DO I READ PERSONALITY SCALES?

If any of the scales are marked with

  • 3 broken hearts  or more

  • 3 hearts or fewer

the pupper might require some training.
